Richard Eckard Obituary

On Sunday August 31st, 2025 Richard D. Eckard passed away peacefully at his home in Taneytown. Born on July 24, 1949 he was the son of the late Donald R. and Genevieve M. Eckard, nee Thomas. He was the loving husband of Deborah A. Eckard, who he was married to for 58 years and their love affair mirrored the movie The Notebook. Richard enjoyed many things in his life. He drove his truck for a living for many years, he loved to work on cars, and loved to help out all of his family members and friends with whatever they needed. He especially loved to help his grandsons and teach them everything he knew. In addition to his wife Deborah, Richard is survived by his children Cindy Lee Speak and her companion Steve Reaver, Richard Charles "RC" Eckard and Sandy May Clingan and her husband Terry; grandchildren Corey Clingan, Cullen Clingan, Nicole and Natalie Eckard; great-grandchildren Ellie, Avery and Peyton; brothers and sisters Gary Eckard, Donna Shultz, and Linda Wetzel. He was predeceased by his grandson Paul Roberts, Jr. Family will receive friends for visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday September 4th, 2025 and from 10-11am on Friday September 5th, 2025 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 136 E. Baltimore Street Taneytown (21787). The Funeral Service will begin at 11am on Friday September 5th, 2025 with Pastor Donny Grimes officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Harney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridging Life Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue Westminster, MD 21157. Online condolences may be made to www.myersdurborawfh.com.

Debbie and family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. He will be missed by so many people. It was a pleasure to know him. I always enjoyed talking with him at Twin and having him work on my car. He's been through so much and I know that God has been with him.
