Richard Fogarty Obituary

Published by Marysville Funeral Home - Marysville on Aug. 25, 2016.

Richard Douglas Fogarty, 51, of Jarrettsville, Maryland and North Street, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Bel Air, Maryland.

He was born March 14, 1965 in Port Huron to Linda Fogarty and the late Jerry J. Fogarty. He married Felicia Deskins on December 3, 1994 in Port Huron.

Richard was a dedicated follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a longstanding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Port Huron and Timonium Presbyterian Church in Timonium, MD.

Rich accomplished many things in his lifetime. He studied at Calvin College and abroad in Spain. He spoke several languages fluently, sang beautifully and even recorded an album. He was extremely well educated in theological matters, attending for a time seminary schooling to broaden his knowledge. He continuously grew in his career and was an expert at bringing people together to work toward a common goal. His great sense of humor and charisma drew people together and created many friendships.

He loved people and was always interested in what was happening in other's lives. He was passionate and opinionated - but in a loveable way. Rich deeply loved "His Bride" and had two children whom he loved beyond words. He was always so proud of them and enjoyed their unique perspectives and personalities. He was always encouraging them to follow Jesus and look for the positive in situations.

Rich was loved by so many and his laugh, great sense of humor, kindness, and overall big personality will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife (aka His Bride), Felicia; two children, Gareth and Rhiannon; his mother, Linda Fogarty; his siblings, Joseph (Heidi) Fogarty and Amy (Bryan) Balon; several nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, William (Diane) Deskins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry J. Fogarty.

Visiting will be from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Tim Anderson will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Words cannot express how much your passing hit the office as a whole, but I know that you are now in a better place, free from any and all suffering that may have been in effect. For the time I knew you, you were always pleasant and such a joy to work and laugh with. You will truly be missed, but your spirit will forever live on.

So sorry to hear of Riches death. I have nothing but good memories of the Bible studies at your home, the baby showers, the new church starts and the wonderful talent Rich had in music and bringing people together. Such a gifted man. God used him well. So sorry for you and the kids. My prayers go out to you for strength and peace within your heart.

I send my deepest condolences to the entire Fogarty family. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. Rich and I grew up together, rode the same bus, had the same teachers, played with the same kids. We even worked together at Diana's our senior year. Rich is someone that I will never forget. He was true to himself, and had this sense of humor that would knock you to the floor laughing. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He invited me to his church numerous times, and I went once to hear him sing. I'll never forget that beautiful voice. I'm sorry we lost touch after our 5 year reunion. I wondered where life took you. I'm so very sorry and so deeply saddened. My heart and prayers go out to the entire Fogarty family.

So sorry I'm dong this for Franklin - long distance but he is in Burkina Faso for another month before he comes home. I've sent him the information about Rich and I know we both will be praying for the family in the days to come. Always remember him singing with the group Potter's Clay. Now he is singing for our LORD!! Prayers for you and as Franklin always says, "Keep looking UP!"

Love in Christ's Name,
Franklin and Cheryl Spotts

Words are usually my strength, but they are failing me now. I am a better person for knowing you albeit too short a period of time. You had the most infectious laugh, love of life and wisdom beyond the average. You have certainly made your mark permanently in my life with your amazing mentoring skills. You will be missed beyond words. Prayers to your family during this extremely rough time. Til we meet again some day.

Shocked to read this. I remember the first day we met, 3rd. grade, Mrs. Connelly's room. I was just doing that "I wonder what happened to_____" the other day. Soar with the Angels, Richard.

Rich was a good man. He led our choir in the past and we put on many performances for the holiday. Then the family moved, and My heart was broken, but I have wonderful memories of the music and his leadership.
I pray his family will be comforted and know that many people in our church loved his talents. May you all know you are loved...Mert

I am so sorry to hear about Rich. He was a good man and a lot of fun, especially at SVS parties.
Very fond memories of him. He was very proud of all of you and loved his family.
I lost my husband of 30 years, 10 months ago. He was only 62.
I know this is a shock for all of you, and will be for sometime.
Take good care of yourself Felicia, Rich would have wanted this for the family.
Try & stay strong---I know 1st hand this does not make sense.
Hugs to all of you,
Debbie Malbin
