Richard Dean Frost, known affectionately as Jack, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 84. Surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home, Jack's final moments were as peaceful as the life he led. Born on August 11, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, Jack grew up to be a man of honor, strength, and compassion, values that he carried throughout his life.

Jack's journey began as a proud graduate of Wellington High School's class of 1959. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Kansas, but his path took a turn as he answered the call to serve his country. Joining the US Navy in 1960, Jack dedicated 34 years of service, retiring as a revered Chief Petty Officer. It was during his station in Rota, Spain, that Jack met Rosario, the love of his life. Their love story spanned five decades until her passing on July 30, 2018.

After his military career, Jack embarked on a new adventure in the world of technology. As a Systems Engineer and Programmer, he spent over 40 years working for esteemed companies such as IBM Endicott, Lorell, and Lockheed Martin. His career saw him traverse the globe, contributing to groundbreaking projects and leaving his mark on the technological advancements of his time.

Jack's life was not all work; he found joy in exploration and leisure. Together with Rosario, he traveled to the far corners of the world, from the vibrant streets of India to the serene landscapes of New Zealand. They reveled in the culture of Paris, the energy of Brazil, and the history of Portugal. Yet, it was always Spain that held a special place in their hearts.

Closer to home, Jack's passions included video games, golfing, and fishing. Whether casting a line in the Susquehanna or setting sail for the waters of Key West, he found solace in the simple pleasure of the catch. Breakfast at Jen's in Nichols was a treasured ritual, a time for good food and great company.

His commitment to community was evident through his involvement with the Nichols Fire Department, where he served as both Chief and Treasurer. Jack's legacy of leadership and generosity left an indelible impact on those he served.

Jack is survived by his loving children, Linda (Jim) Franzese, Rebecca Jorgensen, James (Karen) Jorgensen, Gary Jorgensen, and Michael Frost; his brother, David (Jalana) Frost; and his cherished grandchildren, Carmen, Brandy, and Shawn Jorgensen, along with his adored great-grandchildren, Domanic, Jeremy, Nathan, Natalie, Noah, and Nelson. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Orville and Hazel Marguerite Frost; his wife, Rosario; his son-in-law, Jeff Quick; daughter-in-law, Debbie Jorgensen; grandson Casey Quick; and brother Philip (Joyce) Frost.

Jack's life can be encapsulated by the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." In every aspect of his life, Jack embodied this sentiment, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, October 27th from 4 – 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A celebration of his life will follow at 6 pm where he will be honored with the Fireman’s Prayer and Military Honors. Jack's story is one of a life well-lived, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
