Richard Gabor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John J. Bryers Funeral Home - Willow Grove from Jul. 10 to Jul. 11, 2025.
Richard Bernard Gabor, a beloved and cherished soul, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia in 1940 to Theodore and Anna Gabor. Richard's life was filled with love, music, and passion.

His journey began with a love for music, and he was a very talented saxophone player. He proudly marched with the Polish American String Band and played in the vibrant night club scenes of Philadelphia and New York. In the early 60s, Richard met the love of his life, Janice (nee Reynolds). They married and started a family in Philadelphia before moving to Maryland, where they continued to grow their family.

Richard spent many years in the automotive industry. This led to a deep affection for automobiles and auto racing, passions that he carried with him throughout his life. In the 80s, he returned to Philadelphia, and in 2001, he retired to North Wales, PA, to be close to his cherished family and grandchildren.

Richard was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He is pre-deceased by his parents Theodore and Anna and brother Ted. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his children, Richard Gabor (and wife Kristine), Anna Gabor-Pickens (and husband William Pickens), Kenneth Gabor (and wife Maria), and Jason Gabor (and wife Lora); his five treasured grandchildren, Richard, William, Nicholas, Christopher, and Oliver; and his two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Rhett; his sister Cindy, and brother Ron. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Friday, July 25th from Noon to 2:00 PM at the WaySide Chapel located at the Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Entrance to the chapel is off Horsham Road.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Richard's name to the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
