Richard Galluccio Obituary

In Loving Memory of Richard Galluccio

East Granby, Connecticut, and the community mourn the passing of Richard Galluccio. He was an active resident of East Granby for an impressive 56 years, leaving an indelible mark through his dedication to education, years of youth soccer coaching, and support for seniors in the town.

He dedicated a decade of his life to the East Granby Board of Education. Rich was a graduate of The City College of New York, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. His thirst for knowledge did not stop there; he pursued further education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Hartford, Connecticut, earning a Master's Degree in Science and a Master's Degree in Business Management.

Rich's professional journey was equally remarkable. He retired from Hamilton Standard, a division of UTC, after dedicating 31 years of his life to the company. His work with the Space and Sea Department involved designing and engineering hardware for the Apollo and Shuttle programs, as well as other manned NASA programs. Rich's contributions to the world of aerospace and engineering were significant and enduring.

Beyond his professional achievements, Rich was deeply committed to the well-being of his community's senior citizens. In recent years, he became actively involved with the Commission on Aging for the Town of East Granby. Through his efforts, he introduced several invaluable programs to support seniors in the town. Notable among them was "East Granby Cares Day," a heartwarming initiative that extended a helping hand to senior residents in need. Another cherished program was a brunch gathering for seniors aged 90 and older, providing them with an opportunity to connect with their peers and receive the recognition they deserved.

Family was at the core of Rich's life. He was a loving husband to Nathalie (Lee), and a devoted father to his children, Richard John Galluccio of Oregon, Joseph Anthony Galluccio of West Hartford, and Tori Ann Galluccio and her husband Kevin Cramsey of West Lawn, PA. Rich took immense pride in his role as PaPa to two special grandchildren, Meg Cramsey and Flynn Cramsey of West Lawn, PA.

Those who knew Rich were well aware of his passion for New York Yankees baseball - after all, he was a native New Yorker – and UConn Women's basketball.

His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 1-2 p.m., followed by a celebration of Rich's life at 2 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Richard Galluccio Senior Services Memorial Fund, c/o Windsor Federal Bank, 250 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095 or by visiting, https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/richard-galluccio-senior-services-memorial-fund/8527/ to continue his legacy of supporting seniors in need. I always enjoyed working with Rich. His common sense approach to educational issues was refreshing, his commitment to E.Granby students and parents was unwavering, and his sense of humor enlivened our meetings. My heartfelt condolences to Lee and family.
