Richard E. Gingrich, 1935–2025

Richard E. Gingrich of Lancaster passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and family. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Bowman) Gingrich for 66 years. Carolyn resides at Brethren Village in Lititz, PA.

Richard was born in Lancaster, PA to the late Rufus and Sara Mae (Weaver) Gingrich and grew up with his sister, M. Arlene Early, who also resides at Brethren Village.

Their love story began when Richard's Uncle Jake and Aunt Jean (Weaver) Wine met Carolyn's family while pastoring in Johnson City. Aunt Jean, sensing a potential connection between her nephew and Carolyn, invited the Bowmans to Pennsylvania. On the drive home, Carolyn declared, "That's the man I'm going to marry." Nine months later, they were married and began a joyful life together-first on Geneva Drive in East Petersburg, then raising their family on Lancaster Road in Manheim.

They have three children: Nanette Moyer (Errol) of East Petersburg, Rick (Angie Warner) of Landisville, and Maria Allen (Brian) of Norwalk, CT. Richard was a proud grandfather to Chelsea Garber (Scott), Lydia Ebersole (Casey), and Jordy Gingrich, and great-grandfather to Zion, Selah, Judah, Silas, Junia, and Judges "Buddy."

Richard spent most of his career in the meat and cheese business-first with his father, then with S. Clyde Weaver's, where he managed markets and worked as a clerk for 30 years. He had a lifelong love of animals, from showing his Great Dane, Duke, as a young adult to creating a family farmette filled with ponies, chickens, dogs, and guinea pigs for his family to love and enjoy.

In retirement, Richard enjoyed reading his Bible, afternoon naps, Carolyn's cooking, Wilbur chocolates, attending church, and singing in the choir and men's quartet. His face lit up around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, his life was anchored in his faith in Jesus, his devotion to Carolyn, and the beautiful family they built-a legacy of love that will live on.

Services are Private. Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
