Hello Richard, it has been quite a long time since our LSU days back in the mid-70s. Sorry to hear about your father's passing. Hope you are doing well, otherwise.

Tom and family, my sincere condolences. I worked with Tom at General Dynamics before I left for the AF in 1989. We visited Capt. Gordon at his home and it is a memory I will always treasure. He was a very generous host, not to mention an example for all Americans. His accomplishments are remarkable, and this very photo signed by him is displayed among my memorabilia. Godspeed.

So sorry to read about the loss of your loved one. Psalms 90: 10 shows how he lived a long life of special mightiness from God. Keep the memories of your loved one close in your hearts and minds and cherish them forever. May the comfort of God be with you all during this time of grief.

Dick Gordon was as close to a celebrity as I had in my family. He was my mother's next door neighbor and a close friend. So when I was born, he was chosen to be my godfather. His death closes a chapter in my life. Condolences to the family.

I am very sorry for your loss of Mr. Richard Gordon. Please accept my sincere condolences. Losing a loved one in death is very difficult but relying on the Almighty God will help you to get through it. Draw comfort from God's word the Bible and throw your burdens on God through Prayer.-Romans 15:4.

I believe that Captain Gordon still has the record, along with Pete Conrad, for highest altitude during a manned non-lunar mission (on September 14th, 1966, in Gemini 11).

Naval Aviator, Test Pilot, Flight Instructor, Record Holder in Jet and Space Travel, Pioneering Gemini and Apollo Astronaut, Executive. His Service To Our Country, and contributions to Jet and Space Flight, were of the highest order. A true American Hero!
