Richard Owen Griffin

 Richard Owen Griffin, age 75 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Richard was born August 30, 1949 in Carrol County, Georgia to the late Thomas and Clarice (Miles) Griffin. He was a deacon at Mount Hebron church and an ordained minister for many years. He loved serving people, especially his wife and most of all loved spending time with his family. He was a huge Braves fan and loved to garden. He will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Griffin; daughters, Stephanie (Stanley) Skinner, Meredith (Craig) Garrison; grandchildren, Seth Skinner, Katelyn (Nathan) McMurry, Jacob Skinner, Ethan Skinner (Kaitlyn Crowder), Elijah Skinner, Owen Skinner, Sara (Wiley) Bailey, Luke Garrison; great-grandchildren, Lizzie Skinner, Gable Skinner, Mason Skinner, Ava Skinner, Abrah Bailey, Ila Bailey, Griffin Bailey; brothers, Dennis (Becky) Griffin, Tim Griffin; sisters, Carol (Larry) Lane, Sandy Griffin; brother-in-law, Don (Linda) Hightower; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, July 5, 2025 from 12:00-2:00pm at Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 2:00pm at Mount Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Deron Shuler officiating.

Pallbearers: Seth Skinner, Jacob Skinner, Ethan Skinner, Elijah Skinner, Owen Skinner, Nathan McMurry, Luke Garrison, Wiley Bailey.
