LUNENBURG-Richard "Dick" Grigas, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Lunenburg on Saturday morning, September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was the devoted husband of Geraldine "Gerri" (Coffey) Grigas. Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Grigas of Maynard. He graduated from Lunenburg High School before proudly serving his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, Dick moved to Boston where he began a career with IBM, later joining Digital Equipment Corporation. His work eventually brought him back to Maynard, where he made many lifelong friends. In later years, Dick and Gerri were well known for their volunteer service at Emerson Hospital, where they brought kindness and laughter to patients and staff alike while assisting with transports through the hallways. Above all, Dick cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gerri; his daughter, Patricia Grigas of Marlborough; his son, Richard Grigas, and daughter-in-law, Angela, of Benicia, CA; and his grandsons, Hudson and Mason, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Gately of Natick, along with his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters-in-law Mary Baker of Somerville and Helen Perry of Maynard. Dick was also an avid reader who enjoyed nothing more than a good book while sitting on the deck, a stroll along a Cape Cod beach, or simply a day with the sunshine on his face. He will be deeply missed with every sunrise and every breeze that moves through the trees in the backyard. His funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, at 11AM in The Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend followed by burial in the North Cemetery in Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, please keep Dick in your prayers, do a kind deed, read a good book, and take time to enjoy the small things in life, just as he did.
