Richard Gronski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Dec. 24, 2024.
Richard "Dick" Theodore Gronski, aged 86, passed away on December 22, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dick was born on November 23, 1938, in Hamtramck, MI. At an early age, Dick's father moved the family to Troy, MI. After graduating from Avondale High School, Dick served in the Army National Reserve stationed at Ft. Knox. Moments after getting off the bus, Dick proposed to his sweetheart, Audrey Stephens soon to become Audrey Gronski.
Dick and Audrey were married on May 2, 1959, and soon moved to Rochester Hills, MI where they put down roots in this community and built a truly memorable life.
In 1962 Dick found D&D Tech Supply, a business which has now spanned multiple generations of his family. This business, like Dick, was known for hard work, dedication, honesty, and a passionate approach to delivering quality service.
Dick would continue his love for athletics both on and off the field as an avid golfer and passionate fan of Detroit sports, a love rivaled only by that for his family and friends. Over the course of 58 years, seat by seat, stadium by stadium, Dick would show his support as a Lion's every Sunday, a tradition he passed along with his tickets to his family. In 1972, Dick would become a founding member of Great Oaks Country Club, turning the dreams of an eager young caddy into reality, and finding his second home on the course.
A man of integrity, passion, and generosity, Dick's legacy is the family he left behind. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sherri Gronski; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Mitch Bosse; grandchildren, Dakota Gronski, Rachel Gronski, and Sam McLellan; and step-grandchildren Samantha Carey and Zach Bosse.
It is with a great deal of sadness and overwhelming love in our hearts that we say goodbye to our devoted husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather, and truly the heart and soul of our family, Richard Theodore Gronski. His memory will be cherished by all who know him.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends on Friday, December 27, 2024, details below. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Great Oaks Country Club Caddy Scholarship Fund.
