Richard Haase Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jelacic Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Mar. 27, 2026.
Richard Kenneth Haase of Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born November 27, 1946, to Raymond and Florence (nee Posnanski) Haase in Milwaukee. Richard was the first born to a family of fourteen children. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales Seminary High School, Richard worked at Murphy Diesel, then started an apprenticeship program at Allis Chalmers in 1966 which began a long-standing career with the company. In 1970, Richard began his enlistment in the U.S. Army. He became a decorated Sergeant in Special Forces (Green Berets) and served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, among other awards. Richard returned to Allis Chalmers after his military service and was employed there as a Foreman and elected as Vice President, then Acting President, of the UAW. Allis Chalmers was bought out by Siemens Power Corporation. Richard continued on with Siemens, achieving the role of Manager until his retirement in 2011. Richard traveled to Germany for work several times. In his free time, Richard enjoyed traveling the United States on his Harley Davidson either by himself, with friends, or one or more of his brothers. Richard also enjoyed wood-working, making many pieces for his family. His rec room was a gathering place for family and a weekly poker game with his brothers and father.

Richard was married to Debra Snyder in May, 1987 until 1992. Debra had two children from a previous marriage, Nicole and Jeffrey Waldvogel.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence, along with a brother Gerard (Rose). He is survived by his siblings Kenneth (Kathleen), Glenn (Ruthie), David, Wayne (Joanne), Kathleen (Thomas) McNeely, Mary (Michael) Pistiner, Lawrence (Diane), Christopher (Caryn), Rose Marie (Marty) Proops, Jeanne (Dennis) Harshaw, Therese (James) Levenhagen, John, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Jelacic Funeral Home, 5639 W. Hampton Ave, Milwaukee, WI. Military Honors Service just prior to a Prayer Service at 5:00 PM.
