Richard (Rick) Eugene Hanson, age 77 of Perham, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12th, 2024.
Richard was born on May 9, 1947 to Eugene and Laurel (Anderson) Hanson of Louisburg, MN. He was the eldest of four children.
Richard attended Bellingham Elementary and High School and then the University of Minnesota, Morris. He met his wife, Diane Teske, at college. They married on May 25, 1968 in Benson MN. After marriage Rick and Diane moved to Fridley, MN where Rick worked at Monroe Calculator Company. Their first child Eric was born there. Two years later, Rick accepted a transfer position and the family moved to St. Cloud, MN, where their second child, Dana, was born. Rick worked at Tenvoorde Ford as a Finance Manager and Salesman for 25+ years and Thrivent Financial. Rick and Diane moved to Vergas, MN where Rick finished his career and retired in 2013. They loved living in lakes country, entertaining friends and family on Loon Lake.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to garden and could often be seen out weeding his many gardens. Later in life, Rick volunteered and participated with the local Vergas Lions Club where he held many positions with the Vergas Lions Club and Lions District 5M9.
Preceding Richard is death were his parents, Eugene and Laurel Hanson; brother, David Hanson. Surviving Richard are his wife, Diane; sister, Diane (Gene) Karels (Grand Forks, ND); brother, Warren (Susan) Hanson (Coran, NY); stepmother, Yvonne Hanson; sister-in-law, Deb (Al) Krook (Vergas, MN); brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Susan) Teske (Baxter, MN); children, Eric (Stacy) Hanson (Palmer, MN), Dana (Chris) Hanson Schafer (Fargo, ND); and grandchildren, Taylor (Hattie) Hanson (Minneapolis, MN), Kyle (Jack) Hanson (Woodbury, MN), Kolton, Karson and Coley Schafer (Fargo, ND). Rick will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
