ERWIN - Richard William "Rick" Harris, age 59, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Erwin, Rick is a son of Shirley Jane (Frazier) Harris and the late Richard Dick Harris. He was the co-owner of Tennessee Abrasives and had been employed by them for 27 years when he retired in 2018. Rick enjoyed gardening and camping. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies and his dogs.

In addition to his mother, Shirley Jane Harris, Rick has left behind to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 33 years, April Corine (Gouge) Harris; daughter, Cheryl Rotenberry (Alex); brother, Kenny Harris (Linda); grandchildren: Easton Rotenberry and Grayson Rotenberry; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Richard William "Rick" Harris in a celebration of his life to be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home;. The family will also receive friends at the home, 148 Toney Avenue, Erwin, TN 37650. A graveside committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery following the service. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:00 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Dexter Gouge, Johnny Gouge, Ethan Gouge, Issac Harris, Alex Rotenberry and Dakota Gouge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Rick's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
