Richard Wallace Harris

Richard Wallace Harris, died peacefully in his home at age 81. Richard was born October 21, 1944, to Wallace and Margaret (Elliott) Harris. He grew up in New Hyde Park, New York. Later, Richard went to college at Syracuse University where he met his wife Carroll Ann (Arce) and made many lifelong friends. Richard and Carroll would go on to have 3 children, Todd, Scott and Gretchen. They would raise their family in New York City; Northport, Long Island; and primarily Southboro, MA. Richard lived in Eliot, ME, for the past 20 plus years.

He is predeceased by his parents; his loving wife Carroll Ann, who passed in 1997; and his brother Robert Harris.

He is survived by his loving partner of the past 28 years, Pamela Hammond of Eliot, ME; son, Todd and his wife Kim (Page) Harris and their children Walker and Mia, of Colorado; son, Scott and his wife Mercedes Harris and their children Veronica and Sofia of Massachusetts.; daughter, Gretchen Harris-Goelz and her husband William Goelz of California.

Richard's entire business career has been dedicated to new business development. As a Director of Business development, he would go on to serve as principal consultant and employee for private and publicly traded corporations. Coordinating and structuring debt and equity placements, as well as targeting international partners for market expansion and new product development. He coordinated portfolio investments along with environment-forward programs for many companies including IBM, Raytheon, Honeywell, NYNEX, plus several start-ups.

Above all, Richard was a hospitable man, who would go out of his way to make sure others were happy. He was a soccer coach for both boys and girls in Southboro, MA during 70s and 80s. As an avid swimmer and skier, he remained active throughout his life. He and his wife Carroll were very sociable and played in a bridge group for many years. Always the most important thing for Richard was his love of his family and the many friends he made over the years. Spending time with them whether on vacation at the beach and the ocean or having them over to entertain and make dinner, it was this time that he cherished the most. Sharing his love of dirty martinis while playing dominos with the family or having a lobster dinner with Maine corn and ice cream, it was always important for him to prioritize good times and togetherness.
