Husband of Pamela Hersch (nee Smith) and preceded in death by former wife Eleanor Hersch (Rothman). Father of the late Larry Hersch, Henry (Cheri) Hersch, Step-Father to Suzette (Brad) Friar, Grandfather of Ryan Hersch, Samantha (Joe) Hughes, Amanda (Blake) Crain, Ethan Hersch, and Iris Friar, Great-Grandfather to McKenna, Payton, and Colby. Richard is also survived by his sister Susan (Warren) Nachmann and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was born and raised in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from West Philadelphia High School.
Richard was a talented jeweler and the last hand engraver in Philadelphia, retiring in 2020 after working over 65 years on Jewelers Row. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends, taking up hobbies such as guitar, watching his Philadelphia sports teams play, and having Fox News on the TV. The joy of his life was his wife Pam, his sons, his grandkids, and great grandkids. He enjoyed a good meal with his family and a happy hour with his friends at Villari’s and Filomena’s. You could always find him with a toothpick in his mouth, a glass of red wine, and telling a story that would have you laughing for hours. He will be greatly missed.
