Richard "Ricardo Saul" Hidalgo, 54, of Salinas, CA, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2023, from an illness with his family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1969, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, and moved to the United States at the age of 4 with his family.
Richard grew up in Arizona for a short while before settling in Castroville, CA. and eventually residing in Salinas, CA. as a Child. He attended Sanborn Elementary School, El Sausal Middle School, and Alisal High School. Richard was a joy to be around and was the pillar of his family. As the oldest of six kids, he took on the role of a loving and protective older brother.

In 1997, Richard's life took a tragic turn when he was involved in a head-on collision by a drunk driver on his way to work in Watsonville CA. The accident left him paralyzed and with brain damage, forever altering his life. Despite these challenges, Richard found strength in the support of his family and his love for the 49ers. He bravely faced these conditions for 26 years until his passing.
Richard is survived by his mother, Rosa Maria Hidalgo, his brother Paul Ramirez, his sisters Rosalba Hidalgo, Maria Isabel Hidalgo, Esmeralda Fernandez, and Alejandrina Vigil. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Raul Hidalgo.
In his career, Richard worked as a Circuit Board Technician at West Coast Circuit and later at HADCO. He was skilled in his field and dedicated to his work.
Outside of work, Richard enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his beloved nieces and nephews. He had a passion for cars and enjoyed working on his own, despite not being a mechanic. Richard's Sundays were dedicated to watching football and cheering on his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.
