Richard Lacey Hipwood

Mr. Richard Lacey Hipwood, 78, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hipwood was born the only child to the late Mr. Charles Macleish Hipwood and Mrs. Mildred Mae Dixon Hipwood in Calcutta, India. Richard was a devoted husband, friend, and photographer. He enjoyed traveling, taking photos, and everything about cars. Richard graduated from Drake University with his bachelor’s degree and then went on to receive his master’s degree from Arkansas. He was closely involved with the Corsarossa car club and the AlfaRomeo owners club, he also frequently visited the Virgina International Raceway. Richard served in the United States Air Force for 8 years, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service. He was married for 10 years to the love of his life, Nalyn, who he met in Abu Dhabi working overseas as a consultant for an oil company. Mr. Hipwood is survived by his wife, Nalyn Hipwood; a son, Charlie Hipwood; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Hipwood; and two grandchildren, Cameron, and Zoey. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Father Juan Sanchez officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller.
