SCHODACK - Richard Hoffman, 86, of Schodack, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at home.
Richard was born in Albany, N.Y., the son of the late Edward and Adella (Anderson) Hoffman.
Rich had a great sense of humor and could make you smile or laugh at the smallest things. Nothing was more cherished than the family he loved so deeply, he wouldn't miss a sports game or school program and was proud of everyone. He was deeply engrossed in every Blue Jays game right up until the last pitch.
He was in the United States Army before becoming a chemical operator for Sterling Winthrop for years.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Gail (McGriel) Hoffman; sons, James Hoffman of Castleton, N.Y. and Jeffrey Hoffman of Latham, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Marissa) Hoffman of Winter Park, Fla., Tyler Hoffman of Latham, N.Y., Brianna Hoffman of Fairfield, Conn., Alena Hoffman of Bridgeport, Conn., and Arianna Hoffman of Latham, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Tytan, Houstyn, Jetsyn, and Lennyn Hoffman of Winter Park, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Jo-Ann O, Clair and Karen VanEpps; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Lorraine Stults, Joseph, Edward and Robert Hoffman.
Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Friday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home. Interment will follow in New Rural Cemetery.
