Richard Lee Hypes, age 77, of Clayton passed away June 26, 2024, at the Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, in Charleston, WV, following a farming accident. He was born February 26, 1947, in Charleston, to the late David Luck Hypes and Margaret Frances Miller Hypes. Richard worked as a residential carpenter in the Greenbrier Valley and surrounding areas for many years. He was a 1965 graduate of Talcott High School and attended the Clayton Baptist Church. Richard will be remembered for his love of farming, hunting, fishing, listening to music, playing the guitar, and enjoying the great outdoors, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon Lynn Morgan Hypes; his daughter, Margaret Christine Dolan and her husband Melvin, of Pence Springs; his sister, Frances Boone of Pence Springs; his niece, Helen Boone of Myrtle Beach, SC; his nephew, David Wiseman of Pence Springs, and his great nieces Maggie and Sarah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Luck Hypes, his sister, Helen Judith Wiseman, his niece, Frances Jane Wiseman, and his brother-in-law's J. Wayne Boone and Richard Wiseman. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel in Alderson with Pastor Grant Petitt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Hypes Family Cemetery on the Hypes Farm in Clayton. Friends may call Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson. Family will serve as pallbearers. Condolences and memories may be shared with the Hypes family online at www.lobbanfh.com.
