Richard Russell Johnson Sr.

1932 - 2025

Augusta, GA – Richard Russell Johnson, Sr., 93, entered into rest on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Richard was the loving husband of Michele Ciccarella Johnson. Richard is also survived by his children Debora D. Johnson and Darryl D. Johnson (Shannon), grandchildren, DJ Johnson, Laura Kathryn Jenkins, Adam Johnson, Nadia J. Glasscock, Madeline Johnson, Sophie Guerrero and 11 great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sherby W. Johnson, and son, Richard R. Johnson, Jr.

Richard's profession as an Electrician, his 72 years as a George Walton Lodge Mason and 65 years of faithful service to Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church gave him lifelong friendships. Richard was recognized everywhere, always sharing stories, memories and laughs. Richard never met a stranger. Richard loved and respected everyone.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with Rev. Rick Herring officiating. A private family interment will follow the service.

Pallbearers will be DJ Johnson, Adam Johnson, Gene Ponder, Arian Glasscock, Frank Johnson, Michael Johnson and Lynn Skinner.
