RICHARD'S JOURNEY...
Richard Allen Jones, Sr., a resident of Eden, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord at the age of sixty-six on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Tidal Health in Salisbury, Maryland. "Richard", "Jones Boy", "Ricky", "Rick", and "Rich" as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born on May 19, 1956 in Oaksville, Maryland to Viola Bivens Jones and the late Archie "Glendon" Jones.
Richard was educated in the public school system of Somerset County, Maryland. He learned mechanics by attending Vo-Tech during high school. Richard attended Flower Hill United Methodist Church in Eden, Maryland for a short while and would ride his bicycle to church. In the later years, Richard became a member of New Psalmist Nondenominational Church in Westover, Maryland. Richard loved to sing at home and his favorite song was, "I Can't Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand."
Richard began at an early age hauling sugar corn. He worked a short time for Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury, Maryland. Richard's love for mechanic work resulted in him working for Culver's Cavanaugh Ford car dealership. He then went to work at Pep Boys. After working at Pep Boys for a few years, Richard changed careers and began driving dump trucks. Richard became self-employed and named his business Jones Trucking. Richard worked for American Paving, American Paving Fabrics, Jerry Bozman, Naylor Harrison, the State Highway Administration, the late Jimmy Hobbs, and a few others.
Anyone who knew Richard, knew that he was a character. Richard loved playing jokes on people and enjoyed his funny version of "family feud."
Richard leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving wife, Annette Jones of Eden, MD; his children, Leslie Jones of Baltimore, MD and Richard Jones, Jr. and Tia Jones, both of Glen Burnie, MD; his mother, Viola Jones of Eden, MD; his sisters, Delores Spence of Eden, MD, Glenda Sinclair (Nathaniel) of Salisbury, MD, Cherry Doane, Margaret Jones, Marian Dennis (Leroy), Gertrude Hairston (Darryl) and brother, Glendon Jones, Jr., all of Princess Anne, MD; two sisters-in-law, Mary Wilson (Wayne) of Fruitland, MD and Brenda Hall of Salisbury, MD; nine grandchildren, Kapre Chandler, De'Asia Sheppard, De'Angelo Sheppard, Raven Fiddermon, Kaleb Jones, Raeshon Fiddermon, Kamren Jones, Gabrielle Spence and Kalaya Jones; two great-grandchildren, Ka'Meira Morris and Syncere Morris; four special friends, Clyde Polk, Lawrence Dale, Jr. ("Buck"), Paul Wiles, and Martin Christopher and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Archie "Glendon" Jones.
