Richard 'Dick' Allen Keesey of Corning, NY passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 89, with family and friends by his side. He was born on December 14, 1934 in Newark, NY. The son of the late Blaine and Pauline Keesey. He married Joanne M. Lee on August 12, 1961 in the town of Erwin, NY.
He served in the Army as a young man, ran an Esso station, worked as a grocery store manager throughout his life, and also had a career as an Archway cookie distributor. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, such as drag racing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, lake life, and camping up north with close family and friends. Then later, staying in the cabin which family had built together. Richard, his wife and lifelong friends, Todd & Dee Luckner, also had the pleasure of a month long trip to Alaska in the early 2000s.
Richard resided at Brookdale Senior Living in Painted Post, NY for the last 5 years. He developed many special bonds while he was there, and had much fun at mealtimes, and daily activities with his buddies Todd, Joe, and Dennis. Family would like to thank all his caregivers at Brookdale, and hospital staff in his last days, for the wonderful care provided. Special thanks to Diana, Amanda, Victoria, and his granddaughter, Miranda, for the best care possible, and all the laughter along the way! Thanks to his granddaughter, Whitney, for her help and dedication to his needs over the last several years, and many joyful visits with the little ones.
He is survived by his three children: daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Hardes; sons: Bruce (Stephanie) Keesey, and Lance Keesey. He is also survived by many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne; two brothers: Donald and Stephen; and one grandchild, Jacob.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, October 31st, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Gary Hart officiating. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family, in the family plot at Little Church Cemetery in Hall, New York.
