Richard Keller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Dale City on Mar. 13, 2026.
Richard (Dick) Hughes Keller Sr. of Manassas, VA left this earth on March 7, 2026.

Dick was born in Orangeburg, SC in 1930 to Richard Daniel Keller and Esseline Hughes Keller. He graduated from Orangeburg High School with Honors in 1946 at the age of 16.

Dick was raised in the automobile business, attending auto auctions with his auto dealer father at the tender age of 8. He was the first retail salesman hired at his local Oldsmobile dealer after WWII. In 1955 he established the Keller Oldsmobile Company in Thompson, GA making him the youngest dealer in the state at that time. Between 1961 and 1975 he served in Salesman, Sales Manager, General Manager, and Part Owner roles in various Florida, District of Columbia, and Virginia dealerships. In 1976 he opened Dick Keller Automobiles, EZ Finance Company and Dick Keller Enterprises in Fairfax, VA. These businesses later moved to King George, VA where he also established Sealston Automotive. His career in the automotive field would span a period of 66 years across 3 states and the District of Columbia. He always believed in and practiced honest and fair business policies. His business motto was "We Sell With One Idea In Mind - To Sell Again".

Dick was a Korean War veteran and proud American serving with the US Air Force from 1950-1954.

He was a member of The Virginia Automotive Dealers Association (VIADA) since 1983, honorably serving in District and State Presidential roles.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, his sister Marguerite Keller Moak, and his son Richard (Skip) Hughes Keller Jr.

He is survived by his loving life wife ("Sugar Babe"), Brigitte Matthews, who stood by his side for 45 years. He leaves behind his sons Harold (Eileen) Keller of Harlem, GA, Jack Keller of Bunker Hill, WV, stepson Mike (Anna) Matthews of King George, VA and stepson Glenn (Tracy) Matthews of Manassas, VA. He is also survived by his nephew Daniel (Joanna) Moak and niece Julie Moak of Lilburn, GA. Dick loved and was very proud of his grandchildren Megan, Tara, Scotty, Anna, Caitlyn, Maddie, Cori, Josh, Justin, Lorelai, Morgan, and Riley. He was also blessed with many beautiful great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace United Methodist Church in Manassas, VA where he enjoyed praising God through prayer and song. Dick loved telling stories and interacting with friends, family and customers. He also was a true animal lover and strong supporter of animal causes.

Dick was a kind, positive, man of his word who was always willing to help others. His customers became repeat customers, friends and family to him. We will all miss his good nature, wide welcoming smile and firm handshake. They broke the mold when they made Dick.

Visitation services will be held on March 23rd between 5 and 8 pm at Mountcastle Turch Life Celebration Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193. Burial will be at the Quantico National Memorial Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, VA 22172 at 10:00 am on March 24th. A celebration of life in Dick's honor will immediately follow at the Prince of Peace United Methodist Church, 6299 Token Forest Dr., Manassas, VA 20112.
