Douglas- Richard A. Kessler, 66, passed away on Fri., May 30, 2025 at Harrington Hospital, Southbridge, after a period of declining health and battle with cancer.
He is survived by his mother, Rita H. (Tessier) Kessler Edwards of Douglas, 2 brothers, John Kessler of Douglas, and Joseph Kessler of Northbridge; 4 sisters, Mary Ellen Biggs of Daytona, Fl, Laurie Beauvais of Cape Coral, FL, Susan Kessler of Biddeford, ME, and Karen Boucher of Douglas; his brother-in-law and good friend, Gary Boucher also of Douglas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as good friends. He was predeceased by his father Everett Kessler Sr., and two brothers, Dennis Kessler and Everett Kessler Jr.
Born in Worcester on September 5, 1958, Richard grew up and lived in Douglas most of his life. He was educated from the Douglas public school system. Over the years, he had worked in the construction industry for Angelo Scolar Construction Co, and also worked for Orlando Painting. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and softball, and has always been a known joker, as he always had something funny to say. He loved family gatherings, and especially enjoyed clam bakes. He was a good man and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need.
As to his wishes, he will be cremated, and his celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at 1 PM at 131 Yew St., Douglas. Donations in his memory may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.
