Richard Duane Knabe Sr., also lovingly known as "Big" by friends and family, passed away peacefully at the McCall Hospice house on January 25, 2025. He was surrounded by family and cared for by a wonderful staff.
Duane was born July 10, 1959 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was an avid tennis player and assistant coach for the Hillcrest High School Tennis Team. Duane enjoyed bicycling, watching old western movies and was a Formula One enthusiast. The only thing bigger than his love for all these things was his love for his family and friends.
Duane was proceeded in death by his mother, Patricia "Pat" Knabe. He is survived by his father, Robert "Bob" Knabe; his son, Richard Duane Knabe Jr. (Lesli); grandsons Jackson Knabe and Braeden Cason; his sisters, Mary Mabry (Anthony) and Karen Medlin (Rob); and nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brookwood Church in Simpsonville.
"The family will receive friends at 131 Eastview Circle, Simpsonville SC 29681 on Friday 1/31/25 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm for anyone who cannot make the service."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: McCall Hospice House of Greenville, 1836 W. Georgia Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29680, or The American Cancer Society @ www.cancer.org.
