Richard J. Kogan

1941 - 2022

Schering-Plough CEO, Saint Barnabas Board Chair, Family Man Richard J Kogan, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Born in June 1941 to Ida and Ben Kogan, Richard grew up in the Bronx. Throughout his life he loved being with his family and extended family more than anything else. He also found great pleasure in helping young people with their academic or business careers, which he did often. Richard attended City College of New York and earned an MBA from New York University. He served in the Army and Army Reserves. Richard was CEO and President of Schering-Plough Corporation where he was employed for 20 years. Richard was a member of many corporate boards including the Colgate-Palmolive Company and the Bank of New York. He was a trustee and Chairman of the Board of Saint Barnabas Medical Center. He also served on the board of trustees of RWJBarnabas Health. He was a life trustee of New York University and also a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. He is survived by his wife, brother, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
