It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard F. Konopada, 79 of Lakewood, who passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2025 surrounded by love.
Rich was born in Hillside, NJ, resided in Fanwood and lived most of his life in Brick, NJ
Rich is predeceased by his father, Frank, mother Mary Bomba, stepfather Fidelis Bomba, sister, Barbara Powers and son Jason Mariano.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Karen, Mother-In-Law Ann Wasko, Brother-in-law Richard Wasko. His children Richard and wife Beverley, Michelle and husband Jason, Michelle, Michael and wife Maureen. Grandchildren Emma, Jordan, Sean, Ashley, Ryan, Anastasia and nieces and nephews.
Those who knew him best will remember his dry sense of humor and perfectly timed one-liners that would bring laughter to all.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Rich took pride in everything he did, from his career to projects around the house. He found joy in the simple moments, family gatherings, spending time on the water, bowling with friends and family and vacationing.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Rich served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty throughout his life. After his military service, he channeled his determination and work ethic into a successful career as a business owner, operating several gas stations and mechanic shops. Later, he joined Sysco Foods, where he worked as a tractor-trailer driver for many years. Known for his reliability and dedication, he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues and customers alike.
Rich was most proud of the life he built with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
A kind soul with a gentle heart and quiet humor, Rich's life spoke volumes of integrity, devotion, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by family which mattered the most to him, and is what he leaves behind: love, laughter and a lifetime of memories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Visitation Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 12. 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
