The funeral service for Richard Lange, 86, of Marshall, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service; 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the remembrance center. Interment with military honors will take place at the Russell Cemetery in Russell, MN.
Richard John Lange was born on May 15, 1937, in Russell, MN, to John and Retha (Burkhardt) Lange. He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School. Richard enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy including time in Japan. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Southwest Minnesota. On August 19, 1961, he was united in marriage to Deanna Peterson at the Presbyterian Church in Russell. He worked for McLaughlin & Schultz for a time before taking a job with the Schwan Food Company. Richard was a Machine Operator and worked closely with Marvin Schwan as the company grew. He retired in the late 1990s.
Richard was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard died on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall, MN. He is survived by his children Sandy (and Neil) Nath of Marshall and Jim (and Cindy) Lange of Faribault: grandchildren Debbie (Josh) Juergensen of Rogers, MN, Stephanie (Mike) Goblish of Marshall, Brittany (Matt) Skuya of Marshall, Blake (Sara) Nath of Marshall, Austin (Kari) Nath of Aberdeen, SD, Danielle (Colby) Post of Ivanhoe, John Lange of Marshall, Jenna (Dustin) Bonn of Sioux Falls, SD and Katelyn (Ethan) Nelson of Balaton; step-grandchildren Michael Hoeben, Nick Hoeben and Sam Schultz; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Brady, Jack, Sophia, Abby, John, Kyrie, Aubrey, Beckett, Max, Camdon, Cohen, Madilynn, Colton, Tucker, Brooks, Sailor, Aveigha, Cruze, Dane and Archer; step-great grandchildren Eliza, Kyler, Wyatt, Lilah, Braxtyn and Taylan; brother Larry Lange of Deerwood, MN, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Deanna, son John, parents John and Retha, brother Les Lange, sister-in-law Janice Lange, brothers-in-law Rodney Plantz, Tom Greve, Randy Peterson and Bill Perry and parents-in-law Percy and Luella Peterson.
