Richard Lewis Langedyke, 89, of Soda Springs Idaho, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at home.
He was born April 26, 1932 to Nicholas and Lucille Diehl Langedyke in Appleton, Wisconsin where he stayed 20 years. He entered the military on December 3, 1952 in Fort Crower, Missouri and was discharged on December 2, 1954.
On June 10, 1954 he married Helen Siebers in Little Chute, Wisconsin. She passed away May 6, 2011. He lived in St. Petersburg, Florida for 16 years then moved to Soda Springs, Idaho in 1971 where he lived the remainder of his life.
Richard had eight years of formal education and four years of General Motors automotive training. He also had military training for the military police. He worked for 44 years as a General Motors Master Mechanic. He was instrumental in creating the Caribou County Shooting Range and acted as Range Master and Shoot Director.
He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. He was affiliated with Sheep Rock Muzzleloaders, Caribou County Shooting Club, NRA Member and Wyoming Antelope Club. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, competitive shooting, gunsmithing and created his own caliber 7-30 Lang.
Richard is a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army in stateside service.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Kay) Langedyke and Steve (LeAnn) Langedyke, both of Soda Springs, and daughters Susan King of Pocatello, Idaho and Karen (Dennis) Greene of Soda Springs. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Lucille Langedyke, his wife, Helen Seibers Langedyke and a son, Nicholas Peter Langedyke.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11 o'clock am at the Catholic Church in Soda Springs. A rosary and vigil will be held at 5:30 pm Wednesday evening, with a viewing following from 6:30-8 pm at the church. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs with Military Honors.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Soda Springs Shooting Club or the Tunnel to Towers.
