Richard Lecy Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 7, 2025.
Richard Keith Lecy, 80, of Long Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on 8/2/2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Born with a heart as big as the sky, Richard was known by everyone who met him as the kindest man they'd ever known. He lived his life with quiet strength, humility, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right. Even through the challenges of Alzheimer's and repeated battles with cancer in his later years, he never once complained, showing his family and friends what true courage and grace look like.

Richard shared a deep and abiding love with his late wife, Colleen, who passed away eight years ago. Together, they were best friends and constant companions, finding joy in camping trips with their trailer, cheering on their favorite teams, and simply being in each other's company.

A man of Lutheran faith, Richard lived his beliefs daily - not with words, but through actions of generosity, kindness, and integrity. He found joy on the golf course, where his love for the game reflected his approach to life: patient, steady, and filled with quiet enjoyment.

He will be deeply missed by his children: Jeff (Jen) and their children Eleanor, Charlie, and Frank; Nick (Jessie) and their children Sam and Jack; and Deb (Jim) and their son Jasper. His legacy of love, kindness, and steadfast devotion lives on through them and the many others whose lives he touched.

While the past several years brought difficult battles, those who knew and loved Richard will remember not the struggles, but the man he truly was - a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend whose kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday 8/14/25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, MN. Visitation at 10 am, funeral at 11 am, and a lunch at noon. A burial will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Richard by doing something kind for someone else - just as he did every day of his life.
