Richard Leichtfuss Obituary

Richard "Richie" D. Leichtfuss passed away on April 6, 2024, at Ascension Mercy Hospital with two of his favorite nieces at his side. He was born on April 19, 1941, to Herbert and Mandina (Abraham) Leichtfuss on the family farm.

He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Nekimi.

Richie served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965 as a combat engineer in Vietnam. In 2015 he proudly participated in the EAA Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight.

Richie was a lifelong dairy farmer. After the death of his brother-in-law, Richie began working his sister Sylvia's farm for her and her two young children, Julie, and Jerry. He then moved back to the family farm with his mother and brother, Marvin and continued to farm. Richie (Stub) recently was in partnership with S&S farms (Smiley & Stub). Mike (Smiley) Hartman was a special friend and part of the family. His neighbors, Dan and Jenny Dehn and their two daughters. MyKenna and Maleigha held a significant place in his heart. Presley "Stick" was a very extra special grandnephew.

For the last two years, Richie was a resident of Eden Meadows in Oshkosh. He made many new friends there and enjoyed pestering all the residents and staff. He liked to give away Hughes candies and an occasional beer! One year, at Eden Meadows, Richie was named Prom King. Rick, Presley, Nandina, Julie, Brian, and Mary were some of his regular visitors, who heard and/or witnessed some of his shenanigans.

Richard is survived by siblings, George (special friend Teri), Robert (Barb), Donald (Vicki) Leichtfuss; nieces and nephews, Karen, Randy, Brian, Rodney, Jeff, Julie, Jerry, Theresa, Mike, Chris, Lori, Cathy, Tami, Tim, Rick, Charlie, and Nandina. Richie was further survived by his grand nieces and nephews, as well as all his friends and the staff at Eden Meadows.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl, Oscar, Arnie, Gerard, and Marvin Leichtfuss; sisters Sylvia Nygaard (formerly Stahmann), and Dorothy Hoff; a niece, Jessica Leichtfuss, and special friend Deanna.

A funeral for Richie will be held at St John's Lutheran Church in Nekimi (491 Old Oregon Rd Oshkosh 54902) on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2PM. Rev. John Krueger officiating. A time of visitation will be held from noon until the time of services. A burial will take place at St John's Cemetery.

We are grateful for the love and support and care shown to Richie these last two years at Eden Meadows. He held many of you dear to his heart.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Wisconsin Honor Flight Organization.
