Richard E. Lexby, Age 70, passed away April 5, 2025. Born in Oak Park, IL to Lillian (the late Arnold) Lexby. Beloved husband of Jeanette. Loving father of Allison (Thomas) Kominsky, Mark, and Stephen (Katie Schwartz). Cherished grandfather of Lucie and Theodore Kominsky. Dearest brother of Susan (William) Brown, Patricia (Ralph) Lohr, and the late Carol Beth Lexby. Brother-in-law of Elaine Eisenman, Rosann Eisenman, and the late Stephen (Cheryl) Eisenman. Fond uncle of Chellane Eisenman, Brent (Holly) Eisenman, Kristen (James) Lohr-Roth, and Sara (Scott) Brown-Kallstrand.
Richard lived a life guided and grounded by his unwavering faith. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and son, his love for his family was deep and constant. Faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a dedicated member of his church community, always serving others with quiet strength and humility.
He had a long and distinguished career with the IRS, serving for 37 years as a lead criminal investigator and fraud specialist. Richard was widely respected in his field, writing training materials and teaching the next generation of investigators with the same care and integrity he brought to every part of his life.
He cherished his wife Jeanette, and together they created a lifetime of memories-from bike rides and blueberry picking to beachside vacations and quiet mornings with coffee and a crossword. Richard loved working in his garden, tending his raspberry bushes, spending time outdoors, and fishing on peaceful lakes. He enjoyed traveling, learning about history, watching British shows, and solving brain puzzles. He especially treasured family vacations and the joy of playing with his grandchildren. He had a soft spot for sweets, no doubt thanks to his wife's baking, and was a loving, attentive son to his mother Lillian.
Richard's presence was steady, thoughtful, and kind. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and integrity that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation and service will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Good News Bible Church, 2038 N California Ave, Chicago, IL 60647. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in his honor to Inner City Impact or Good News Bible Church Liberia Fund.

I came to know Rick Lexby as an excellent Revenue Agent to work a criminal tax case with. But he had great depth beyond his accounting skills. I know he was a family man & I´m sorry for their loss. He was taken too soon. May his soul be taken to heaven.
