Richard William Loeper, age 74 of Spring Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1948, in Grand Haven, to John and Francis (Klintworth) Loeper. Rich graduated from Spring Lake High School, and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, during the Vietnam War Era.
On February 27, 1988, he married Joan Bol in Grand Haven. Rich had been employed by Star Machine, and then worked for Automatic Spring for 20 years prior to his retirement.
Rich enjoyed the outdoors and spending time hunting and fishing. He liked to go to the Saturday night races at Winston and Thunderbird raceways. Rich loved his dogs and enjoyed going on walks with them.
Rich is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan; his four sons: Jonathan Loeper (Hailey Vandenberg), Matt Loeper, Cody Loeper and Kory Loeper; and his sister-in-law, Barb Bol. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Vickie Lee.
The Funeral Service for Rich will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Blackmon officiating. Full Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28.
