With deep sorrow, we would like to share that Richard D. Longo passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Lakeland, FL on March 15th. He was 83 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Antoinette Longo; daughter, Jennifer Longo; and granddaughter, Isabella Perrotta. Richard and his wife only recently moved to Lakeland from Ormond Beach, FL to be closer to their daughter and granddaughter.
Richard was born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1942, as the middle child in a family of three boys to late Thomas Longo Sr. and Helen Longo. He is predeceased by his younger brother Joseph Longo and survived by his older brother, Thomas Longo.
After high school, he entered into service with the US Marine Corps. He served just over 4 years. That service took him to various places including Guam, South Africa, Puerto Rico amongst others. He was awarded for his sharp shooting skills and received a presidential commendation for completing a 54-mile run as part of a fitness initiative.
Richard married Antoinette in 1968 in Staten Island, NY. They moved to FL in 1971 and settled in Ormond Beach where he then started his own business as a plumbing contractor. He was well known and successful throughout Palm Coast and Flagler, Florida during a great population surge.
Throughout his years, he loved hunting, golf, poker, and was known to talk for hours with family and friends if given the chance. He was always willing to come assist with any plumbing dilemma and offered help in whatever other way he could for family and friends in need.
The funeral mass with be celebrated at Resurrection Catholic Church on March 25, 2026, at 12pm followed by a reception at the home of Jennifer Longo at 6818 Hayter Dr. Lakeland, FL 33813.
