Richard "Rich" P. Luetjen
Richard "Rich" P. Luetjen, 83 years young, of Tolland, husband of over 63 years to Elaine Luetjen, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Rich was born on August 3, 1942, in Rockville, one of three children of the late Walter and Elizabeth Satryb Luetjen.
He was raised in Ellington and was a graduate of Cheney Technical High School in Manchester. Rich was a Tool & Die maker by trade and was employed with several different manufacturing companies in the area. Most of his career he worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Hamilton Standard for over twenty years.
Along with raising his family, Rich enjoyed caring for his 1968 Ford Mustang and attending Cruise Nights all over Connecticut. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. Rich was known for creating beautiful wood carvings and furniture. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Elaine, Rich leaves his two sons and their families: Michael Luetjen, his wife, Donna, and their daughter, Caroline, and Michael's children, Sienna and Bailey of Florida; Mark Luetjen, his wife, Patti and their two children, Abigale and Amelia of Tolland. Other family members include his brother, Donald Luetjen of Clayton, GA; several nieces; a nephew; their families; and many wonderful friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tim Hunt; and his sister-in-law, Audrey Luetjen.
At Rich's request, there will be no funeral services or calling hours. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, has been entrusted with his care.
