Richard James MacLellan

Richard James MacLellan, age 69, of Andover, formerly of Tewksbury, a deeply loved member of a well-known Greater Lowell family, passed away at Lawrence General Hospital on Friday, January 2, 2026 .
He was the beloved son of Ann M. (Furtado) Maclellan and the late John G. MacLellan, Jr.
Richard was born in Lowell on June 9, 1956. He was raised in Tewksbury and attended St. Coletta's School in Braintree. During his time at St. Coletta's School, he was blessed with the sacrament of confirmation by his namesake, the late Richard Cardinal Cushing.
As an adult, he was employed for many years by Goodwill Industries in Lowell, where he and his contemporaries worked processing donated items.
He enjoyed swimming in the family pool, riding his bicycle, spending days at the beach in Harwich Port and traveling to Disney World, where he loved visiting the "Magic Kingdom".
Richard will be remembered for unwavering love for his family, his humor, his love for strawberry ice cream from Meadowlands, Big Macs, Pepsi, and watching the movie "Jaws".
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, John G. MacLellan, III and his wife Marie, of Chelmsford, Peter A. MacLellan, of Wilton, NH and Alexander D. MacLellan and his wife Nicole, of North Andover; his sisters, Katherine A. Davidson and her husband Kevin, of Nantucket, Susan T. McAlary and her husband Kevin, of Amherst, NH, Nora J. Labadini and her husband Robert, of Westford, Christine M. Fiesel and her husband James, of Wilton, CT, Elizabeth M. MacLellan, of Lowell, Maryann F. Wheeler and her husband William, of Tewksbury, Ann Marie M. MacLellan, of Harwich Port, Mollie M. Clarke and her husband Christopher, of Yardley, PA, Jennifer M. Lindberg and her husband Eric, of Bedford, NH.
Richard is the brother of the late Jacqueline M. Legein and Margaret M. MacLellan.
He leaves numerous nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a special mutual affection. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family members and friends.
Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Those attending are asked to meet at church. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Colletta's School at cushingcenters.org
