Richard Minor Mason

1939 - 2026

Richard Minor Mason was born November 25, 1939, in Memphis, TN and passed peacefully on February 20th, 2026. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 46 years Shirley Mason (the former Shirley Jackson Graham), Sons: Rick Mason (Cindy), Rory Mason (the late Janelle Mason), Daughter: Katerina Corriher (Doug), stepdaughter: Patricia Riner (Alton), stepson: William Graham (Michelle), and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben & Margaret Mason, grandparents Meyer and Mary Blumberg, and brother Robert Mason.

Richard graduated from Memphis High School in 1957. Upon graduation he fulfilled his military obligation in the U.S. Air Force. Richard was a man of many interests and pursued them with great enthusiasm. He was an avid golfer before he was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. His true love was fishing with his dear friends and family.

We will long remember him as a man who never met a stranger, loved to laugh, and cherished those close to him. He was supported by his church family at Skidaway Island Methodist Church during his long illness. The family would like to also extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Hospice Savannah for the unwavering compassion, comfort and dignity provided during this time.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Rev. Hale Bishop officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. just prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
