He was born on April 4, 1953 in Granite City, IL to Robert E. and Anna (nee: Haney) Mathenia.
Richard married Helene Ulitschan in Granite City, IL on September 27, 1975.
The loving husband and father did auto repair for many years. He enjoyed cars and was a maker of plastic monster models.
Richard is survived by his wife; 2 daughters: Roxanne Mathenia of Granite City and Nina Marie; 3 sons: Richard A. Mathenia, Robert J. Mathenia and Randall W. Mathenia, all of Granite City; a brother, Robert (Shari) Mathenia of Granite City; a sister, Rhonda Mathenia of Granite City; a half-brother, Jason Mathenia and an uncle, Dean Haney.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents.
