Richard S. McEvoy, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 4:59 a.m., Meredith's hand in his, at York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Meredith P. (Price) McEvoy, with whom he shared forty wonderful years and countless cherished adventures.

Born in Baltimore, MD, on August 23, 1944, Richard was the son of the late Patrick McEvoy and Cecilia (Smith) McEvoy.

Richard was a proud member of several organizations that reflected his Irish heritage, love of community, and dedication to service. He belonged to St. Brendan Division 3 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Towson, MD, the Friendly Sons of Baltimore, and the Hibernian Society of Baltimore. He was also a longtime supporter of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Baltimore. In addition, Richard spent many years as a member of the Izaak Walton League and the Emigsville Rod & Gun Club.

Richard spent many years in the credit union world, working in finance and business development. Whether he was running the show or building relationships behind the scenes, he was known for his dedication, kindness, and genuine care for the people he served.

Richard is survived by his sons, Christopher McEvoy and his wife Savannah, Timothy McEvoy and his wife Emily; and by his treasured grandsons, Rhue, Ian, and Colin McEvoy. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Alicia Overmiller and her husband Matt, and Josh Jamison and his wife Dana; and by his step-granddaughters, Paige and Alana Overmiller. He leaves behind his brothers Patrick, Joe, and Ron McEvoy, along with nieces and nephews who will forever remember him with affection.

Guests are invited to bring a favorite memory or story of Richard to share. You may bring something written or add it to a memory journal that will be available at the service.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 A.M. at Salem Christian Church, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, PA, with Rev. Kevin Becker officiating. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M., followed by burial in Salem Union Cemetery, just a few minutes away. A luncheon will be held back at the church from 12:15 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
