Richard Joseph McNellis passed away on November 25, 2024, at his home in Bountiful, Utah. Rich was born September 24, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Wilhelmina (Patsy) and Edward Thomas McNellis. Rich grew up in a loving home, in humble circumstances. This taught him the value of hard work and determination. He was resilient and independent from an early age.

He graduated from South High School in 1957 and joined the Navy on June 5th of that same year. He attended the U.S. Naval school and became a Fire Control Technician. Rich served in the Navy for four years and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for another two and a half years.

Rich met the love of his life, Barbara Ehrmann, and they were married October 24, 1964. You could always find Rich working tirelessly in his beautiful yard, golfing with his friends, and cheering on his Utes and Broncos. His job as a service manager for Benchmark Systems relocated the family from Denver to Bountiful where he and Bobbie raised their two daughters Stacey and Jill. Rich was an amazing husband, father and grandfather to his seven grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Bobbie, his daughters, Stacey and Jill (Shawn) and grandchildren: McKenzie, Jason, and Nathan Linnell; Kaden, Ian, Dylan, and Owen McArthur; brother Eddie McNellis and sister Sharon Brusseau, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many of his lifelong friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob McNellis, sister Dee Kalber and his son-in-law Roger Linnell.

The family would like to thank the many people that helped support Rich in the last few months of his life.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Bountiful Community Church, 150 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah.
