West Bloomfield – Richard J. "Dick" McWilliams, age 80, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Arleen McWilliams; three daughters, Emily McWilliams (Tony Nedza), Sarah Glover and Christine (Dustin) White; four grandchildren, Owen, Kaylee, Weston and Piper; and brother-in-law, Richard Wisniewski. He was predeceased by his sister, Florence Wisniewski in 2016.
Dick was born and raised in Rochester, attended schools there and was the son of John and Amelia (VanHoven) McWilliams. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology. Dick worked as a chef most of his life at the following restaurants, Top of the Plaza, Rochester Club, Hearth & Embers, Sherwood Manor, among others. At one time he also owned and operated Mac's Place in Bloomfield. Dick enjoyed cooking, golfing, crossword puzzles, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
His memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, at 2pm, at First Congregational Church of East Bloomfield, 10 South Ave., East Bloomfield, NY 14443. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilmot Cancer Institute, Office of Advancement, 300 E. River Road, PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomfield. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
