Richard Allen Meindl

Richard Allen Meindl, 67, passed away at Riverside Hospital on Tuesday June 6th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and John Meindl.
Rick was a lifelong Columbus resident and Buckeye fan. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Capital University in 1978. While at Capital he displayed notable athletic prowess, competing in both football and track & field. He was an Athletic All-American in 1976 and '78, and won the coveted Berea Boots Award in 1977. Rick was inducted into the Capital Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. His school record for the discus remains unbroken.
Rick was an accomplished lead guitar player and could often be found sitting in on a blues jam at the Dolphin Lounge or tearing up a Pink Floyd solo with his former band Falcon Great. Remaining a dedicated musician throughout his life, he often performed songs on his guitar for fellow in-patients during his time in hospice care.
He is survived by his children Matthew Meindl and Lauren (Ryan) Adams; grandchildren Clayton Adams and Russell Adams; ex-wife Nina Meindl; siblings Carolyn Toth, William (Helen) Meindl and James (Gail) Meindl.
