Richard Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Langeland Family Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel - Kalamazoo on Nov. 10, 2023.

Richard Edmund "Dick" Miller of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 87. Richard was born in Brookfield, Illinois on July 4, 1936, to the late Henry and Louise (Sandell) Miller. In 1965, Richard married Margaret Normand, whom he would spend his life with until her passing in 2003.

After graduating from Comstock High School, Richard served in the United States Army – a time in his life that he fondly reflected on as a "vacation". Following his discharge from the Army, Richard settled in Comstock, Michigan and found employment with Parker Hannifin (NWL). He would eventually dedicate 40 years of service to Parker Hannifin, where he remained employed until his retirement.

In his free time, Richard could often be found enjoying outdoor activities. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as a member of the Dowagiac Conservation Club in Dowagiac, Michigan. He loved his guns and he loved to shoot them. Richard was known as a "Ford man". Those that knew him well are unlikely to remember him driving any other vehicle. And, this German liked his beer!

Richard loved his family and all of his "things", and he was known to take good care of all that he cherished. Surviving Richard are his children, Janice (Francis) McPartland and Lisa (Steve) Bullard; grandchildren, Jeremy, Michele, Nick (Kelsey), Adam (Falon), Jesse (Traci), Lindsay (Jeff), Ethan (Bailey), Sonni, Brandi (John), and Courtney (Eric); and 19 great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Louise; his wife, Margaret (Normand) Miller; daughter, Vicki (Miller) McClelland; and siblings, Dolores and Henry.
