Richard Mills Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 28, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Richard C. Mills on October 20, 2024 at the age of 87 after a battle with cancer. He was born to Ethyl Northrop Mills and Albert Mills in Norwalk, Ct. Dick spent his early years in Westport, Ct, moved to Rhode Island, and during his later school years moved to Poughkeepsie, NY.
The influence and guidance from Dick's father instilled his deepest values, especially his dedication to serving his community. Dick will forever be remembered for his unending service, which included joining the army, volunteering as an EMT, firefighter, scout master and scout commissioner. Once involved in Freemasonry, he discovered a passion that drew him, his father and his brother further together in its common values.
He ended his 20 years of employment with IBM to answer a calling to become a Methodist minister with the NY Annual Conference. Upon retiring after 34 years of dedicated ministry, he devoted the remainder of his life to his first love, freemasonry, by becoming a Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Chancellor Robert Livingston Library of Grand Lodge in NY.
He is preceded in death by Ethyl Northrop Mills, Albert Mills, Phillip Mills, his first wife Joyce Mills and his second wife Judith Mills.
He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, his honesty, and his passion for wanting to help others. He is survived by his current wife, Donna Mills, his children: Rick Mills, Gary Mills, Deb Troell, Sharon Brandon, Bryan Mills, Michael Kopping, Ryan Kopping, 14 grandchildren as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
