Dr. Richard Ben Moore, 94, of Monticello MN passed away Tuesday May 16, 2023. Richard (Dick) was born February 1, 1929 in Indianapolis Indiana, the son of Dr Ben B. Moore and Katherine Deane Moore. He spent 40 years with the love of his life, Marjorie (Marge) Bauer, and were married on June 1, 2016.
Richard is dearly loved and survived by his daughter, Julie Bucchari & son-in law Chiro Bucchari of Loughborough, Leics UK; grandchildren, Nicola (Ben), Angelina (Chris), Michael (Nikky); and 6 month old great-granddaughter, Stella. Nieces, Jan Sappington from Overland Park, Kansas, Martha (David) Whitlock from Springfield Illinois.
Dr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine (Katie) Moore Cole, from Springfield Illinois, and niece Susan Elizabeth Cole (Sue) Allfrey.
In 1949 Richard received his BS in Anatomy & Physiology from the University of Indiana, In 1952, Dr Moore received his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine at age 23. After serving his country as Lieutenant Colonel, Medical Corps Reserve US Air Force from 1954-1957 in England as an American Physician, Dr Moore practiced internal medicine for several years before starting his lifelong career at the University of Minnesota Heart Clinic funded by the NIH in laboratory research involving lipids. According to Dr. Henry Buchwald "Dr Moore was extremely intelligent, as well as meticulous, he did not take short cuts."
Dr Moore was loved by all. He loved music and loved to travel and literally saw the world. His charm and wit was only preceded by his kindness and calm demeanor. Dr Moore often recalled his life in stories. Of his favorites to recite were a dance with Doris Day and a date with Grace Kelly.
A memorial service will be held at Mississippi Shores, 1213 Hart Blvd, Monticello MN 55362 at 11:00 am Saturday May 27, 2023. On-line condolences can be made at Peterson-grimsmo.com Flowers can be sent to Mississippi Shores.
