Richard Eugene "Dickie" Naill – age 80, of Knoxville, TN, passed away with his family by his side on July 1, 2025. Dickie was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School classes for children, youth, young adults, and "the old people". He retired from a career as a welder for Norfolk Southern Railway. Dickie was always on call as plumber, electrician, mechanic and carpenter for anyone who asked. He was a fan of dirt track racing, watching Westerns, and traveling the back roads.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Edna Naill and brothers-in-law R. J. Haun, Lee Monday, and Benny McNutt.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary; his children Bryan (Melissa) Naill, Lora (Tim) Oglesby, and Wesley (Sarah) Naill; grandchildren Clay Oglesby, Lauren (Logan) Stuart, Lindsey (Marcus) Harrell, Chloe Naill, and Lila Naill; great-grandchildren Holden and Lennon Harrell, Tucker, Griffin, and Lily Stuart; sisters Sandra Haun, Diana (Jim) Wilson, Joyce Monday, and Becky (John) Cox; sister-in-law Dianne McNutt; brothers-in-law Frank (Nancy) Monday and Gary Monday; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Bridges Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM. Immediately following the service, family and friends will process to Asbury Cemetery for a 4:30 PM Graveside Service.
Pallbearers: Anthony Haun, Cole McNew, Austin Monday, Cameron Monday, Lee Monday, Tate Monday, and Chad Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dickie's honor to a church or charity of your choice.
