Richard James Ogden,89, passed away February 3, 2025, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1936, in Kansas City, KS.
Richard was married to Roberta Sue Hanson on October 9, 1953. He was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors. Which he entered on March 1, 1958. Richard worked for Dover Elevator Corporation for 25 years until his retirement in 1991. Richard and Sue raised six children in the Bethel area of Kansas City, KS until they moved to Tonganoxie in 1974.
Richard was a member of Cornerstone Family Worship, the American Legion, and was the founding member of the Tonganoxie Township Fire Department and the Reno Township Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years and most recently served in with the Patriot Guard.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a son Richard Wayne Ogden, and a granddaughter Sarah Pape Breuer.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sue Ogden. His children Paula Pape (Carl), Connie Reischman (John), Lynn Kerns (Mike), Jim Ogden, and Nancy Pitts (Steve); ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Patricia Trigg, and brother Edward Buck.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10 from 11am-1pm at the Cornerstone Family Worship, Tonganoxie. Burial directly afterward at Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Cornerstone Family Worship or the Tonganoxie American Leigon post 41.
