     Richard Quincy Oldham, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in


TruCare Living Centers in Palestine, Texas.


 


     Richard was born on August 15, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Beatty and Marjorie (Ashe)


Oldham. He was a sixth generation Texan and the great-great-grandson of Dr. Anson


Jones, last president of the Republic of Texas. He graduated from Lamar High School


and was further educated at the University of Houston. Richard was an army veteran of


the Vietnam Conflict and a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo


Association. After retiring from American Express Company, he relocated to his beloved


Brushy Creek Farms in Anderson County, Texas, and later enjoyed living on his


peaceful property in Palestine, Texas near his son.


 


    Richard was a loving father, loved the Lord, and enjoyed spending time outdoors


working on projects. Over the years he was actively involved with his church and found


joy in listening to gospel music and reading the Bible.


 


   Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Barbara Oldham. He is


survived by his daughter Carol Ann Oldham of Houston, his son Russell Gribble of


Palestine, and his daughter Kristen L. Gribble of Houston, two brothers Charles Ashe


Oldham and David Herrington Oldham both of Houston, mother of his children Carol R.


Henslee of Houston, Ted Guyton of Houston, and nieces and nephews.


 


   A graveside service will be held Monday, May 11, 2020 at 11:00am at Olive Branch


Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.


Memorials may be made to the Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, Texas.
