Dick was welcomed into Heaven on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Genie for 68 years, and the loving father of David (Lisa), Susan Lemon (Dale), and Michael (Julie.) He was the proud grandfather of Drew Palmer, Lindsay Lintelman (Kyle), Meganne and Tyler Lemon (Sara), Joshua (Lori), Claire Ishow (Jonathan), and Bethany. He was predeceased by his daughters Lisa and Julie, parents Virginia and Cecil, and parents-in-law Sophie and Stanley Bernacki. Dick was loved by his sister- and brother-in-law, Maria and Tom McDermott, and his nieces Dawn (Matt), Dana, and Jennifer Parker (Jeff). Dick wore many hats, but his most loved was being a Dad and Grandpa. No matter what his children and grandchildren were involved in, he was as well. They were the joy of his life.

He was a proud graduate of the University of Detroit and active member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army and had a fierce love for his country. Dick spent 32 years with the Ford Motor Company as a tax analyst. During this time, he continued his life of service. He was a PTA Officer for 16 years and served 6 years on the PTA Area Council. He was a member of the Warren Consolidated School Board for 16 years and chaired two successful millage campaigns. He was an active Warren resident for 67 years serving on the Warren Library Commission (10 years), the Cultural Commission (3 years), and the Friends of the Warren Library (30 years). His love of music led him to the Warren Symphony and was on the Board of Directors (19 years) as chairman and Treasurer multiple times.

A devout Catholic, Dick found much joy in parish work. Active in St. Cletus Parish for 32 years, he was its first Parish Council Chair, and a member of various committees. He moved to St. Edmund Parish and again stepped into many roles including Stewardship and Finance. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. His final 7 years were spent at St. Blase Parish, a wonderful faith-filled community. His health limited his involvement but his faith never wavered. His many friends will agree-his was a life fully lived.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 2, from 3pm until 8pm at Wasik Funeral Home, 11470 13 Mile Road at Hoover in Warren. A scripture service will be held at 7pm. On Wednesday, December 3, Dick will lie in state at St. Blase Catholic Church from 9:00 until 9:30am with the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Capuchins or your favorite charity.

Dick's service to St. Edmund's parish, his love of music, and his active involvement in many community programs has touched my life since 1981. He was always ready to help and was the first friend to say, "How can I help?" when I moved from Warren to Sterling Heights. Rest in peace, dear friend.
