Richard Lee Perry, age 80, of Centerville, passed away on November 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Richard was born on September 24, 1945 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Esther (Sheldon) Perry. He graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1964. After high school, Richard joined the United States Army Reserves, from which he was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Vickie Watters.
Richard worked as the Fire Chief at the Moravia Fire Department for over 20 years. He also worked at John Deere for many years, where he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed cattle farming, being outside, hunting, woodworking, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed camping, especially in Branson and Lake Rathbun.
Left to honor Richard's memory are his wife, Vickie Perry; his children, Scott (Donnalee) Perry, Rod Perry, and Tifini (Brandon) Kreitz; six grandchildren, Logan Perry, Lauren Chase, Gracie Davis, Catie Mertz, Colton Foglesong, and Carson Foglesong; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary Perry; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Esther Perry; and his sister-in-law, Deloris Perry.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. Visitation with family present will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to EveryStep Hospice or Furever Friends, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Perry Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
